Steadfast Onlus è lieta di annunciare ufficialmente che Thomas Evans verrà in Italia il giorno 22 settembre per ritirare il Premio Atreju che l’Onorevole Giorgia Meloni gli ha riconosciuto per il suo inestimabile esempio in difesa della vita.

Sabato 22 settembre, alle ore 13.00, consegna del Premio Atreju a Thomas Evans, genitore del piccolo Alfie Evans, affetto da una grave malattia genetica sconosciuta e deceduto il 28 aprile 2018 presso l’Alder Hey di Liverpool dopo una lunga battaglia legale tra la famiglia, l’ospedale britannico, le autorità inglesi, italiane ed europee. Il caso di Alfie ha commosso il mondo e anima ancora un grande dibattito a livello internazionale sui temi etici. La mobilitazione globale per dare una speranza al piccolo di continuare a vivere ha coinvolto cittadini, associazioni, politici ed Istituzioni. Ad interessarsi del caso Papa Francesco, che il 18 aprile 2018 ha ricevuto in udienza privata Thomas Evans. Una battaglia che ha visto in prima linea anche Giorgia Meloni, che ha chiesto e ottenuto dal Governo italiano la concessione della cittadinanza italiana per il piccolo Alfie nel tentativo di trasportarlo in Italia presso l’Ospedale pediatrico Bambino Gesù, che aveva offerta la sua disponibilità a tentare una cura sperimentale. Alla consegna del premio parteciperanno Emmanuele Di Leo, presidente di Steadfast Onlus, l’associazione che ha seguito fin dall’inizio il caso in costante contatto con la famiglia Evans, e il direttore del quotidiano Avvenire, Marco Tarquinio. Nel corso dell’incontro verrà rinnovato l’appello al sindaco di Roma Raggi per intitolare alla memoria del piccolo Alfie una strada della Città Eterna, come richiesto da una mozione depositata da FdI in Aula Giulio Cesare. – Giorgia Meloni

Steadfast is glad to officially announce that Thomas Evans will attend the award ceremony held in Italy on the 22 September in the frame of the “Atreju prize”. During the ceremony, Thomas will be awarded by Giorgia Meloni, member of the italian parliament, in recognition as a priceless example in defence of the value of life.

Saturday 22 September, at 1.00 pm, the award of the “Atreju Prize” will be given to Thomas Evans, father of the little Alfie Evans, suffering from a serious unknown genetic disease who died on 28 April 2018 at the Liverpool’s Alder Hey Hospital after a long legal battle between the family, the British hospital and the British, Italian and European authorities. The case of Alfie has moved the world and still animates a great international debate on ethical issues. The global mobilisation to give hope to the child to continue living has involved citizens, associations, politicians and institutions.
Pope Francis has taken a personal interest in the case by receiving on the 18 of April, in private audience, Thomas Evans. This battle saw Giorgia Meloni in the front line asking and obtaining from the Italian Government the granting of the Italian citizenship for the little Alfie in an attempt to transport him to Italy at the Bambino Gesù Children’s Hospital, which had offered his availability to attempt an experimental treatment. Emmanuele Di Leo, president of Steadfast Onlus (the association that followed the case in constant contact with the Evans family) and the director of the newspaper “Avvenire”, Marco Tarquinio, will participate at the award ceremony. During the meeting it will be renewed the appeal to the mayor of Rome, Virginia Raggi, to name a street of the Eternal City in the memory of the little Alfie, as requested by “Fratelli d’Italia” party in Room “Giulio Cesare” through an official proposal. – Giorgia Melon
